Ujjal Sengupta is a seasoned Human Resources leader with over 25 years of experience across diverse industries including Telecom, ITES, BFSI, Hospitality, Infrastructure, and Education. He currently serves as the Deputy General Manager ? HR at Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd., where he leads HR operations across the West Region?s contact centres, overseeing a workforce of over 6,800 employees.
Throughout his distinguished career, Ujjal has been instrumental in driving strategic HR initiatives, digital transformation, and talent development programs that align human capital with business growth. His expertise spans talent acquisition, organizational development, HR analytics, employee engagement, compensation & benefits, succession planning, and change management.
Prior to joining Reliance Jio, he held leadership positions at Hinduja Global Solutions, SPML Infra Ltd, and Hotel Hindustan International, where he played a pivotal role in establishing HR frameworks, implementing SAPbased performance systems, and leading mergers and acquisitions integration. He began his career in the hospitality sector before transitioning into academia as a lecturer and corporate trainer, nurturing his lifelong passion for mentoring and people development.
Ujjal?s professional achievements have been recognized with several awards, including the Best Employee in Shared Services, Top Gun Award, and Best Business Impacting HR Initiatives. A graduate in Hotel Management and Human Resources, with an Executive Program in Talent Management from XLRI Jamshedpur, Ujjal is known for his peoplecentric leadership and strategic vision. Ujjal Sengupta completed his Ph.D. in Management Studies from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, University of Mumbai. His doctoral research focused on ?The Impact of Diversity and Inclusion on Employee Performance in the ITES Industry.?
